December 12, 2016 e.c, a recognition ceremony was held for Dr. Aklilu Habte, who was one of the first 13 degree graduates at our country's university college in 1943 e.c.
Tewedaje Media and Communication organized the recognition ceremony with the Lebawi International Academy, and the 94-year-old Dr. Aklilu Habte and his family will attend the program.
Dr. Aklilu Habte University College, who attended his primary and secondary education at Teferi Mekonn School, is one of those who entered and graduated when it was opened for the first time in our country.
After graduating in 1946 e.c, Dr. Aklilu Habte went to Canada and America to study up to a PhD in education.
Dr. Aklilu has served his country all his life in the field of education and he has been able to serve as a teacher to the president of the First Haile Selassie University where he graduated.
Dr. Aklilu Habte served from 1946-1966 e.c from a student to the president of the university and after the 1966 e.c change, he worked as the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.

Later, he went to the World Bank and fulfilled his professional duties as the first African-Ethiopian director of education and training at the bank. He also served as the head of UNICEF's education department until his retirement in 1987 e.c.
Dr. Aklilu has published a 600-page edited book entitled "History of the First Hailelesse University, Journey of Resistance and Expansion of Higher Education in Ethiopia" and it is a book that is enough to be admired by many.
